Jiří Vodička – Curriculum Vitae
Born in 1988, Jiří Vodička is a member of the leading Czech violin virtuosi. From a very early age, he was awarded prizes from competitions set at both National and International level, including First Prizes at the „Jaroslav Kocian Competition“ „Prague Junior Note“ und „Čírenie talentov“/”Search for Talent” (now known as the “Vrchal-Competition”) in 2000. One year later, he was awarded First Prize for the second time at the „Čírenie talentov“ and „Jaroslav Kocian“ where he was also awarded “Preisträger des Wettbewerbs”
In 2002, Vodička was again awarded the First Prize at the International Beethoven Competition in Königgrätz/Hradec Králové. In the same year, he was named the best participant of the Václav Hudeček master class. In 2004, he was the winner of the renowned „Louis Spohr Competition“ in Weimar in Germany.
At the age of fourteen, Jiří Vodička was admitted to the “Institute of artistic studies” at the Conservatoire Prague where he studied with Prof.Zdeněk Gola. In 2007, at the age of 19, he finished his Master’s degree.
Jiří Vodička has concentrated on his career as a soloist ever since. In 2002, he became a soloist of the Janáček Philharmonc in Ostrava while touring the Czech Republic and farther abroad. He regularly plays with orchestras such as the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, the Czech Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of the National Theatre (aso???). Many of his concerts have been recorded by Czech Radio and Television.
In 2008, Jiří Vodička won First Prize in the European pre-competition of the world-famous „Young Concert Artist“ in Leipzig and also won the Second Prize in the final in New York.
Jiří Vodička is a regualur guest at the Prague Spring Festival, Young, the Grand Festival of China, at the Hohenloher Kultursommer, Choriner Musiksommer, and at Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus where he also worked as concert master.
Along with his career as a soloist Jiří Vodičkas is interested in Chamber music and is regularly accompanied by leading Czech pianists such as M. Kasík, A. Skoumal, L. Vondráček. He is also the violinist of the renowned Smetana Trio and, since 2009, has been teaching at the Conservatoire Prague.
