Jiří Vodička – media reaction
Tübinger Tagblatt, January 9th, 2013
Jiří Vodička who, at 24, is already an internationally renowned virtuoso violinist, gave a brilliant rendition of Sarasate`s popular „Gipsy Airs”. He avoided turning his performance into a merely acrobatic display. He conjured up the most soothing and wistful feelings of gipsy romanticism, whether that would be conveyed by a lively flageolet or by sweeping longingly over the strings. All this he achieved with the wonderfully full tone of his instrument. The audience gave him a rapturous ovation at the end of the breakneck finale.
Vodička`s balance between flirting tenderness and ardent charm in Saint-Saëns’ „Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso“ op. 28 was equally masterly.

High-spirited violin
Soloist Jiří Vodička started Pablo de Sarasate`s »Gipsy Airs« with great energy, using a breathy sound where necessary. He mastered the highly virtuosic passages with great ease, his bow rushing over the strings, fully exploiting the rich colours of his instrument. His interpretation was not only technically brilliant but also deeply felt. He gave life and soul to the 19th century`s world of pedigree virtuosi.
